Kiyo Chasen – The Matcha Whisk

To keep your Kiyo Chasen in great shape, follow these simple steps:

• When new, soak the chasen in hot water for at least 5 minutes before first use. This helps the prongs loosen and open naturally for better whisking.
• Before each use, soak the tips in warm water for 1–2 minutes to soften the bamboo and prevent breakage.
• Rinse gently under warm water. Avoid soap, as it can damage the natural bamboo.
• Whisk in a light “M” or “W” motion. Don’t press hard or twist the handle.
• Rest on a Kiyo Naoshi (chasen holder) to help it dry evenly and keep its shape.
• Keep in a cool, dry place. Avoid humid spots or closed containers while wet.

Note: Your chasen is made from natural bamboo. Over time, the prongs will wear and open—this is part of its life cycle. When it loses its bounce, it's time for a fresh one.
